Meet Briana and her family. Since November 2020, her family has been struggling with homelessness. The Whole Child assisted her family with motel vouchers, crisis housing, mental health referrals, employment referrals, case management and were ultimately able to connect them with LACDA where they were then able to obtain an Emergency Section 8 Voucher.
After receiving the voucher, TWC staff worked diligently to search for a home for the family and it wasn’t too long after until TWC staff identified a unit for rent that was accepting section 8 vouchers in Whittier.
Through the help of TWC, Briana and her family applied to rent the unit and a week after applying, the property owner contacted the family to share with them that they had been approved to rent. TWC assisted the family with the security deposit and new appliances.
Briana and her family are now living happily in their new apartment and have a place to call home.
