Last night, The Whole Child spearheaded the LA Homeless Count effort in East LA, driving around to take a census of our unhoused neighbors. This imperative undertaking is done annually by LAHSA throughout the county to ensure that individuals and families experiencing homelessness are counted accurately, which allows for the proper distribution of funding to agencies like ours that serve these members of our community. We are grateful to Supervisor Hilda Solis and Congressman Jimmy Gomez and their teams for joining us and supporting our efforts. In a few months, the data collected will provide invaluable insights to help as address the needs in our own backyards. We also want to give a special shoutout to the 100+ volunteers who helped us in East LA!
