Destiny and her family of five were living in motels; when they did not have enough money, they would sleep in a relative’s RV. After becoming enrolled in TWC’s Rapid Rehousing Program, we helped them overcome a lot of barriers and needs, such as helping them obtain identification and searching for an accessible unit. Even locating permanent housing was a difficulty. Our housing locator found a four-bedroom unit that was suitable, but the landlord was requesting $600 over the fair market rate. Our staff stepped in and helped negotiate with the landlord, including offering an incentive. After all these roadblocks, TWC welcomed the family into their permanent housing on April 22.
