The Whole Child Kicks off Mental Health Awareness Month and Designates May 18 as Wear Green to #BreaktheStigma

WHITTIER, CA – The Whole Child (TWC) kicked off its Mental Health Awareness Month campaign – To Be Healthy as a Whole, Your Mental Health Plays a Role. The campaign aims to raise awareness, educate the public, and #breakthestigma to reduce negative attitudes and misconceptions surrounding mental illnesses.

TWC provided over 44,750 mental health therapy hours to nearly 2,000 children and youth this past fiscal year. The services provided helped 1,630+ families heal, develop resilience and build emotionally healthy lives. In 2020, TWC was selected by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health as the exclusive provider in Service Planning Area 7 (Southeast Los Angeles) to offer early psychosis assistance for youth ages 12-25.

TWC will promote 20 Days of 20 Mental Health Tips on its @thewholechildca social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn). Additionally, Tuesday, May 18, has been designated as Wear Green to Break the Stigma day TWC Mental Health Awareness Month Community Campaign includes:

  • 20 Days/20 Tips: Check out @thewholechildca on social media for a daily mental health tip provided by TWC social media followers, community partners, and employees.
  • TWC Wellbeing Trees at Open Facilities. Beginning the week of May 10, clients visiting any of our open facilities can leave a tag on our wellness tree expressing someone/something that’s made them happy.
  • Wear Green to Break the Stigma on May 18: TWC designates Tuesday, May 18 to wear a green ribbon or green to show support of mental health awareness month. Community members are asked to post a photo on their social media with #breakthestigma #thewholechildca
