Adriana’s Housing Success Story

| Featured, News

Adriana was separated from her very young son and daughter and needed a safe shelter in order to be reunited with them. Once referred to The Whole Child by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), she was reconnected with her children.

Before entering our housing program, Adriana was employed as a caregiver and has been able to not only maintain her employment but increase her income all while residing at Safe Families shelter.

They were ultimately able to become connected to a Section 8 voucher. Their case manager, Omar Gutierrez, assisted in helping to find permanent housing in San Pedro, CA. The Whole Child helped Adriana and her family with the move-in costs as well as purchasing furniture and appliances.

Adriana says, “I’m very thankful to The Whole Child for all the support. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Adriana and her family secured a one-year lease and are now settled in their new apartment. She continues working hard at her job while her children remain enrolled in school and focus on their education.

“I am so proud of Adriana and her dedication to finding housing for her children,” said Omar. “Her positive spirit and great work ethic were the reasons for her success.”
