A heartfelt thank you to Whittier Area Community Church (WACC) for once again hosting their incredible annual Rack at WACC event. Last night, more than 70 of our recently housed families enjoyed a shopping experience unlike any other, choosing from an incredible selection of gently used clothing, purses, accessories, back to school supplies, books and even receiving brand new shoes. Families also enjoyed haircuts, dental hygiene resources, iced coffee, and a delicious dinner to end the evening. While our families may now have a place to call home, they still deserve to experience the joy, confidence, and dignity that comes with choosing clothes they feel proud to wear. A fresh start is about more than having a roof overhead, it’s about walking into your next chapter feeling seen, valued, and hopeful. Thank you WACC community and every volunteer and donor who made this beautiful evening possible. After experiencing domestic violence, Alisa and her two sons needed more than just a roof over their heads, they needed safety, peace, and a chance to begin again. At Safe Families, families are met with compassion, support, and care during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. What may seem like small moments, like a safe place to sleep, children laughing again, or a mother finally feeling supported, can mean everything to a family trying to rebuild. Alisa’s story is a reminder that healing takes time, but no family should have to go through it alone. Through safe housing and wraparound support services, families are given the opportunity to move forward with dignity, strength, and hope for the future.
